:: ABORTION CONVERSATION PROJECT ::
ACP is a 501c3 nonprofit, founded in 2000 by independent abortion providers and their allies as the sister organization of the National Coalition of Abortion Providers, based in Washington DC.
We recognize the transformative power of pregnancy and all its possibilities. We envision a world in which abortion is affirmed as a moral decision without stigma. We believe that open and honest conversations, in a safe environment, about the experience of abortion will begin to create this world.
ACP is destigmatizing abortion by making information about the abortion experience readily available. The websites offer the public access to perspectives that are otherwise kept silent. ACP is especially committed to offering clinic workers “tools” such as patient handouts, staff trainings, and community strategies to educate and facilitate communication.

NEW “Mom, Dad, I’m Pregnant” (www.MomDadIMpregnant.com)
The “Mom, Dad, I’m Pregnant” project includes a comprehensive website with real stories and tools for communication between teens and parents during a pregnancy crisis.
Handouts are also available to distribute to teen patients and their parents.
“No one prepares parents or teens for this situation,” says Margaret Johnston, President of ACP, “We know we can help because we help families every day.”
ACP feels making this interaction between teens and parents better can only strengthen adolescents and their connections to their parents. |
| Promoting Post Abortion Emotional Health Campaign -- The “Healthy Coping After an Abortion” handouts include information and support for patients on healthy coping both before and after abortion. Training materials for clinic staff are also available. Free Download: www.abortionconversation.com/healthycoping.pdf. |
| Regional Conversations -- Regional conversations have been hosted in Texas, Florida and the Northwest. These conversations bring together a diverse group of those working in the reproductive justice field who rarely, if ever, have a chance for honest, open conversation about their work. The conversations range from 40-75 participants, one to two days, and are moderated by experts from the ACP. |
Choice Link Up (www.choicelinkup.com) -- This innovative web-ring is a positive alternative to the many online sites that are confusing, scary and inaccurate. Choice Link Up provides easy-access links to accurate and nonjudgmental information on all aspects of reproductive health, justice, and activist information, resources and blogs. Easy access to the information you need. |
| ACP Partners -- ACP’s national Partner Program provides financial support for ACP and allows providers, academics, activists and allies to connect via an online bulletin board and live chat room. |
Online Discussion Courses -- ACP’s online discussion courses have addressed topics such as post abortion emotional health and healthy communication between teens and parents, and have featured guest speakers such as Frances Kissling, Brenda Major, Nancy Russo, Ava Torre-Bueno, Janet Crepps, Rachel Jones, and other national leaders. These courses have drawn over 200 participants from all over the country, including providers, activists, and students. |
| Abortion Clinic Directory (www.abortionclinicdirectory.com or www.ru486.com) -- This paid directory offers state and city listings for abortion clinics, as well as educational information on abortion, contraception, and other reproductive health issues. This informative, effective directory also provides funding for the projects of ACP. |
The Abortion Conversation Project is committed to eliminating the stigma of abortion by creating new ways and opportunities to talk about abortion honestly and publicly. The real life experiences of providers and women themselves will enable people to understand and appreciate the complex moral decision-making surrounding a pregnancy decision.
